Peace Education

Building the Next Generation of Global Peacebuilders

Peace education is at the heart of the International Peace Alliance (IPA | AIP). Each year, IPA delivers educational programs, presentations, workshops, and trainings to adults, youth, and children around the world. Our approach is intergenerational, multicultural, and rooted in the belief that the next generation of Peacebuilders must be equipped to shape a peaceful global future.

Supporting Small-Scale Farmers and Workers

Climate change has serious implications for food production and food security. Evidence from many countries shows that investment in small-scale farming, particularly women farmers, is one of the most effective ways to:

  • Increase food production

  • Reduce hunger

  • Strengthen local economies

  • Reduce poverty

Together with its partners, IPA helps to:

  • Make small farms more productive through sustainable techniques;

  • Support farmers to organize in cooperatives and producer organizations;

  • Advocate for public investment in small-scale agriculture;

  • Promote the right to dignified work in food value chains.

IPA’s Global Peace Education Network

The International Peace Alliance is proud to partner with:

  • Schools@Peace

  • World@Peace

  • Foundation for Sport, Development and Peace

  • Comité International Pierre de Coubertin

  • National Pierre de Coubertin Committees worldwide

  • Numerous Peacebuilding and educational organizations

Together, these partnerships support the development of a global curriculum that empowers young people to become active agents of peace in their classrooms, communities, and wider world.

IPA & the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet)

IPA collaborates closely with schools and institutions within the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) — a global education initiative involving over 12,000 schools in more than 180 countries.

ASPnet promotes:

  • peace and human rights

  • intercultural dialogue

  • sustainable development

  • global citizenship education

Through IPA’s Global Peace Ambassadors Program, students from ASPnet schools participate in:

  • Peace-focused workshops

  • Youth exchanges

  • Educational challenges

  • Global peace relays

  • Leadership training

  • IPA events such as the International Peace Festival and Peace Ambassadors Awards Gala

This partnership ensures IPA’s initiatives support UNESCO’s global mandate while extending real-world peace engagement opportunities to youth.

IPA Global Peace Ambassadors Program

Youth leadership is central to IPA’s mission.
Through this program, IPA empowers young leaders to:

  • Understand the drivers of peace and conflict

  • Practice intercultural dialogue

  • Build community peace initiatives

  • Engage with international institutions

  • Represent their schools and countries on the global stage

This program serves as IPA’s bridge between Peace education, leadership development, and the Peace Industrial Complex framework.

Derek Peaple — Director, Youth For Peace International Division

A visionary global education leader, Derek Peaple leads IPA’s Youth for Peace initiatives.

He has developed a worldwide curriculum including the Schools@Peace anti-bullying program, which provides:

  • Classroom tools

  • Teacher resources

  • Olympic and Paralympic values education

  • “Acts of Sporting Kindness” activities

  • Peer leadership frameworks

These programs have been implemented across multiple countries and regions with high impact.

Sports for Peace — Acts of Sports Kindness

Danilo Ponciano, Director of IPA’s Sports For Peace International Division, has implemented the Acts of Sports Kindness program in collaboration with:

  • World@Peace

  • Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Latin America

  • Latin American Center for Coubertinian Studies

The program:

  • Prevents bullying

  • Builds positive school culture

  • Uses sportsmanship as a vehicle for Peace education

  • Provides country-specific, culturally adapted resources

  • Integrates youth leadership through IPA’s Global Peace Ambassadors Program

Danilo is expanding this initiative globally to reach schools in new regions through IPA’s networks.

Peace Education Within the Peace Industrial Complex

Within the Peace Industrial Complex™ framework, Peace education plays a foundational role:

  • developing the next generation of Peacebuilders

  • preparing young people to understand global systems

  • fostering ethical leadership

  • promoting non-violence, empathy, and global citizenship

  • equipping youth to shape sustainable, peace-oriented societies

Education is the cornerstone of a world where peace is learned, practiced, and lived daily.
